Cane Intensive with
Chantal

 Start with the basics and try
your hand at the more complex uses of the cane (Raks
Assaya). Chantal is offering 3 - 1 hour sessions
starting with holding & twirling to flipping &
catching. Do one, two or all three hours to learn this
fun, audience pleasing skill. Space is strictly limited!
Hooked on the Basics
Starting
from scratch with holding and twirling, we'll learn the
proper technique and drill the basic movements of the
hooked cane. No experience necessary!
Cane
Combos
In this hour, we'll use basic hooked
cane technique layered with dance movement in cool
combos. You will also be introduced to the differences
between stage and folk use of the
assaya.
Off the Hook
We'll
drill the basic technique of the straight, or hook-less,
cane. A fun and dynamic prop, the possibilities are
endless when you're 'off the hook'!

Nudity
A multi-disciplinary work spanning dance,
physical theatre, music, sound and video. Motivated by
Harold Pinter's 2005 Nobel Prize lecture, Art, Truth and
Politics, this collective creation follows the journeys
of refugees living in Canada as it explores issues of
war, death, injustice, mass media and power.
